Winner of a Grammy 2024 as a member of the Harlem String Quartet, Jaime Amador has been hailed by The Washington Post for his “sophisticated and precise playing.” Jaime Amador has distinguished himself among the latest generation of musicians. He was seven when he began studying the viola at the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music and later continued his training at The Juilliard School and The Manhattan School of Music.

As a soloist and chamber musician, Mr. Amador tours widely and has appeared in prestigious venues across the world. He has collaborated with the Berlin Philharmoniker on May 2021 under Simon Rattle and Antonello Manacorda. He is also a visiting professor at the Royal College of Music in London and is current faculty at the John J. Cali School of Music in Montclair State University, New Jersey, and frequently teaches master classes at institutions such as the New York Youth Symphony and Kaufman Music Center at Merkin Hall.

Before joining the Harlem Quartet and Trio Virado, Mr. Amador was a member of the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra, where he won First Prize in its Solo Competition for his interpretation of Béla Bartók’s Viola Concerto.
