Nao Kubota
Violist Nao Kubota is an active chamber and orchestral musician based in Los Angeles and San Francisco. A graduate of New England Conservatory, she earned her Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance studying with Dimitri Murrath, then received her Master of Music and Graduate Certificate at the USC Thornton School of Music, studying with Karen Dreyfus. A passionate chamber musician, Nao has worked closely with the Juilliard, St. Lawrence, Pacifica, Escher, Borromeo, Cavani, and Danish String Quartets, and has performed with the Verona String Quartet. Nao has won numerous chamber music competitions, and has performed in venues across North America, Europe, and Asia. She was the Gold Prize winner of the 9th International Chesapeake Chamber Music Competition, as the former violist of the Zelter String Quartet, and was invited to the Rencontres Franco-Américaines de Musique de Chambre, as winners of the USC Ofiesh Chamber Music Competition. Nao has performed at the Aspen Music Festival Center for Advanced Quartet Studies, Juilliard String Quartet Seminar, St. Lawrence String Quartet Chamber Music Seminar, Sarasota Music Festival, Encore String Quartet Intensive, Bowdoin International Music Festival, and has played in masterclasses for Midori Goto, Kim Kashkashian, Nobuko Imai, Thomas Reibl, and Ralph Kirshbaum, among others. Nao currently performs with various ensembles in Los Angeles and San Francisco, and is a member of the award-winning chamber ensemble, Delirium Musicum.
